Artificial Intelligence is all the rage right now – companies have fully embraced it as a tool and it is often added into apps and websites (even when it may not be necessary). How can you as a business owner know when to leverage AI as a tool and when it is important to go the “old school” route and consult a real, live human being? In this article, you will find a few instances when it is best to consult a person instead of firing up the latest AI platform.
Where AI Cannot Help
Designing Your Website
While AI can generate websites in seconds, it is often very bad at creating the custom and unique feel that helps represent your brand and speak directly to your clients. After all, AI is simply a bunch of statements that are guessing what it is that you may want. Although it is tempting to let AI generate your website for you, working with a team of a Web Designer and Web Developer is best to help craft the proper look and feel of your website, creating a sense of personality and connection with your audience – something that a computer can’t do.
Developing Copy and Brand Voice
AI can be great at finding new ways to express a certain message, but without the core tenants of your brand and its voice, it won’t have any place to start. This is where a marketing team comes into play – it is important to have a group of people to brainstorm and bounce ideas off of; without this initial brainstorm session, your brand will not have a proper, unique voice that extends across all marketing channels. Without the unique voice of your brand, AI will not be able to help you generate copy and voice.
Where AI Can Help
Generate Code
AI is great a rote tasks – tasks that are clear and defined and have been done before. To this end, it is great when you are stuck and need to find a solution to a coding challenge. It can generate that one piece of CSS that skips your mind or double check that your JavaScript is executing properly. The one caveat is that you need someone knowledgeable at the helm. Without someone who is savvy enough to understand the code that is being generated, it is simply a hit or miss game; you can try and implement the code that AI generates, but you won’t know how it works or why, and it may lead to code that doesn’t work properly or at all.
Expound Upon Ideas
While AI isn’t great at generating unique content, when it is given a set of seed data, it can create alternative versions of ideas that it is given. AI can be used in this way to re-phrase or expand upon certain core ideas. It can help give suggestions about what topics are adjacent or similar to the ideas that you feed it. While this can be helpful in generating content for your website or social media, without the input of unique ideas from a team of well-versed internet marketers, AI will not be able to generate ideas relevant to your brand, unique voice, or custom message that you are trying to portray to your ideal audience.
